What we do

We work with children and young people up to the age of 25 who live in Devon. If you think you need some support in school or have a disability or health needs we’re here to help.

The law says children and young people have the right to get information, advice and support for themselves. That’s why we’re here.

We have 3 Children and Young People Workers, Anna, Emily and Maria.

We have three Child and Young People’s Workers.

Hello I’m Maria

I research and write information for our website.

I also give advice and support to young people. This can be on the phone, by zoom or in person. Find out more here .

Hello, my name is Anna (Anna is currently on maternity leave)

I work 1:1 with young people to help you have a say on what’s going on in your lives.

I also work with adults (like your parents or carers, and other professionals like support workers) to help them understand why your voice is so important, and help them work with you so your views are always heard. If you want to talk to me or get some help, you can contact us here.

We’re here to listen to you! We won’t tell you what to do. We won’t judge or take sides. You can get in touch with us by phone or by using our contact form.

You can get information to help you make choices and decisions by using this website.

We can also offer you 1-1 support with things like:

Here are some of the things we’ve recently helped other young people with.

I’ve got an EHCP review meeting coming up and I’m worried.

We can help you gather your thoughts and views for the meeting. We can do this in a way that’s best for you. These are some of the ways we’ve helped other young people:

  1. We talked about what works and what doesn’t work at school and what they want to happen after the review.
  2.  Drawing a mind map of all the things that are important.
  3. Writing a what works and what doesn’t work list.
  4. Talking to someone who’s not from school or family helped.

I’m finding it really hard to go into school at the moment.

We are here to listen and won’t judge you.

If you have a meeting about school attendance we may be able to help. We can listen to what you have to say and support you to find a way to tell school what you think /feel.

You can find information about mental health here

I want more support at school but I don’t want to be treated differently.

We’ve heard from young people that what school thinks is best isn’t always what they think they need.

We can listen to what you have to say and help you talk to the right people at school.

We’ve found this helps staff at school see things from your viewpoint. This can lead to small changes that can make a big difference.

I want more help when I’m learning at home.

One of the ways we have tried to help is by signposting young people to some resources available online. You might also find our page on study skills helpful.

Finding out what works best for you when studying can really help with motivation.
