We will make sure your privacy and the information you give us is processed in line with our Data Protection Policies, your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulations and the data protection laws that apply in the UK.
What are we going to do with your information?
DiAS takes your privacy seriously. We will only use your personal information for two purposes:
- to provide services or information to you, or
- to create anonymous data for general reporting and statistical purposes.
As a service, we collect and record information that enables us to identify and contact you. This includes collecting relevant information about your child or young person’s SEND and any related issues that you raise. This is a necessary part of our ‘public task’ and for the purpose of legitimate interests. That includes any necessary information you give us that relates to a health condition or disability, and which enables us to support you.
You don’t have to give us any personal information but without it, it may be difficult for us to give a good service. You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information at any time.
Will we share your information with anyone else?
No. Unless you have told us we can, we won’t share your personal information with any organisation or individual outside DiAS. The only exception would be when there is a risk of harm to you or someone else if we don’t share your personal information (a safeguarding issue).
How long will we hold information about you and your child?
DiAS will keep your personal data for only as long as is necessary. We hold information securely in our internal records for up to three years. Information about individual children and their families, which is entered onto the database we use, is kept until the child is aged 25.
Can you see the information we hold about you and your child?
Yes, you can ask to see the personal information DiAS holds about you. You can choose to have it on paper or in an electronic form. You have the right to ask us to correct any personal information that we hold about you that’s wrong. You can choose to reuse your personal information for your own use, such as giving it to another organisation.
How can you get in touch with us?
If you have comments, or you’re unhappy with any aspect of our service or privacy policy, please tell us. Any complaint will be investigated and may be passed on to Devon County Council for further action. If you would like to know more about how we look after your personal information, or want a copy of the personal information that we hold about you, you can contact us at:
