The subject that we probably get asked about more than any other is SEN support, or the support your child gets in school.
SEN support is the core support that every child and young person with SEND gets, whether they have an EHC plan or not.
Parents want to know the kind of support that’s available, how it should be planned and given and what to do if it isn’t working. To answer your questions about this area, we’ve developed a whole new section of our website.
In it you can find lots of practical advice and examples, as well as information about the law and how to get more help for your child.
There are four brand new pages:
- What is SEN Support – this covers the kind of support that’s available, the law about SEN support and the SENCO and what they do.
- How SEN support is planned and given – this is about the graduated response (the assess, plan, do and review cycle) for deciding what support your child needs, and about school plans and meetings.
- Reasonable adjustments – this is about the kind of changes that a school can make to enable your child to learn.
- Getting more specialist help and assessment – more detailed information about specialist help and advice, the educational psychologist and what they do and what to do if the support your child has isn’t working.
We would love to hear what you think about the new resources. You can either click the star rating at the bottom of each page or contact us and let us know what you think.
